Greece Group Trip and Webinar on Accessible Travel Booking
Join me as I discuss accessible travel with United Airlines, Airbnb and accessiBe today on a webinar hosted by the United Spinal Association.
Hey there!
Bookings for the 2025 Wheelchair Travel Group Trip to Greece resulted in a sold-out trip in less than 48 hours, which prevented me from opening it to free subscribers. Many more travelers have since expressed interest in the tour, and I am now working to set-up a second tour date, which would occur in the summer or fall.
If you are interested in traveling with me on a wheelchair accessible tour of Greece, please send an email to grouptrips@wheelchairtravel.org. Be sure to include your preferred month of travel (the options are June or October), and I will take these responses into account in planning the additional group.
As a reminder, available group tour itineraries are made available first to paid subscribers of this newsletter — if you would like to get early access to reserve a spot on this and future tours, please consider upgrading to a paid newsletter subscription. Your readership and support are instrumental in supporting my advocacy for equal access in the travel industry.
Join me on an Accessible Travel Webinar hosted by United Spinal TODAY
Later today, Wednesday, October 23 at 3 p.m. ET (New York time), I will be moderating a panel discussion hosted by the United Spinal Association. The webinar, entitled "Navigating Accessibility," is an event highlighting the importance of accessible travel and addressing barriers faced by travelers with disabilities from the booking stage onward. This discussion will engage industry experts and disabled people to explore current challenges, share insights, and advocate for improved digital accessibility.
I will be joined on the panel by Amy Romberg, Sr. Manager, Customer Strategy & Innovation at United Airlines; Suzanne Edwards, Accessibility Standards Lead at Airbnb; Sapir Yarden, Nonprofit Partnerships Lead at accessiBe; and Josh Basile, Community Relations Manager at accessiBe and Board Member at United Spinal who travels frequently with his wheelchair.
Together, we'll discuss industry innovations that are making journeys more accessible, starting with the critical step of booking a trip. To register for today’s unique webinar, complete this registration form on Zoom. I look forward to seeing you there!
Looking ahead
After returning from the group trip to Spain and Portugal just a couple weeks ago, I have enjoyed some rest and recuperation, while also eagerly awaiting my next opportunity to hit the road.
Here are a few things upcoming:
ZorkFest 2024 in Las Vegas — If you want to learn about maximizing the return on credit card rewards, hotel points and frequent flyer miles, ZorkFest is the conference for you. I am excited to reconnect with friends at what is one of my favorite conferences of the year, in one of the most wheelchair accessible cities in the United States.
TravelAbility Summit in San Francisco — I am excited to connect with industry experts, disability advocates and destination marketing professionals at the TravelAbility Summit, where I will be presenting on the lessons the United States can learn from the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Wheelchair Travel Meet-up in San Francisco — Following the success of the meet-up I hosted earlier this year in Paris, I am finalizing details for a meet-up in San Francisco! If you would be interested in meeting me and your fellow Wheelchair Travel readers for coffee or a drink next month in the City by the Bay, please let me know!
This won’t be the only time you hear from me this week — On Friday, paid newsletter subscribers should expect a premium article focused on one of my favorite restaurants found abroad — trust me, it will surprise you!
Have a great week, and I hope to see you tonight at the United Spinal webinar!
All the best,
— John
Any chance Italy might be on the itinerary soon? Are your tours open to people handicapped by arthritis and age who move too slowly for other tours? I don't know if we could keep up with those on wheels or not.
We just returned from Dublin, flying through ATL to DUB. Delta was fantastic in accommodating our need for accessible lavatory visits on the flight from ATL to DUB and return.
