First Look: Watch Me Demo the Wheelchair Space for Airplanes
Advocacy got us to this historic day in aviation — A realization that a wheelchair securement space on airplanes is coming soon.
Hello from Hamburg!
It’s a beautiful day in the aviation capital of Germany — 75 degrees Fahrenheit, 24 Celsius, with clear skies and a product unveiling that could change the disabled air travel experience forever.
Today, I had the opportunity to become the first wheelchair user to demo the Air4All prototype at the Aircraft Interiors Expo, a major industry conference held each year in Hamburg. Air4All is a wheelchair securement space built for today’s commercial airliners and, what many considered a pipe dream just a year ago at this same conference, now has the financial backing from Delta Flight Products, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Delta Air Lines.
I’ve published a quick first look at the prototype on the blog, including a video showcasing the process of converting the seat into a wheelchair space, and the actual securement process. You can find that article here — First Look: Air4All Wheelchair Securement Space by Delta Flight Products.
I’d like to extend a sincere “Thank You” to all of the readers who have subscribed to this newsletter — it was only with your support that this last-minute trip to Hamburg was possible, and I look forward to continuing to track the development of this product in the weeks and months to come.
If you’d like to support my continued reporting on this and other important stories in the world of accessible travel, you can do so by upgrading to a paid newsletter subscription.
Talk to you soon,

Thank you for all your hard work safe travels!
