Great article and definitely makes me want to check out the accessible downtown core for a long weekend. Thank you for sharing.

If you do make the trip, be sure to come back and share what you thought of the city!

Great column regarding the public-private sector cooperation to make Fort Wayne accessible. My thanks to all those who worked or volunteered to make it so.

Peter, It was definitely (and still is!) a team effort, and I'm inspired by the progress they have made so early on in the journey. I am looking forward to a return trip in the future!

Hi, would you share your speech or a link to the video? If like to share it with my tien, St. Augustine, Florida. Perhaps they or our county will be interested in bringing you down fit a visit? They've begun a much larger focus on accessibility. I enjoy your information. Thanks!

Hello! Unfortunately, my speech was not recorded. I am open to bringing the message of accessible travel to any city that will have me and, given that I spent large portions of my life just down the road (Gainesville and Tallahassee), it would be fun to go back to St. Augustine. Feel free to connect me with your contacts!

Will do! If you are coming this way again and want some tips on unrexpected elevators to get great Bayfront views etc let me know!

How about the cart problem (piling disabled people on dangerous, poorly designed carts) instead of using gate-to-gate wheelchair service, a years long problem at DFW airport. I tried to work on this recently and got nowhere. I don’t know how many airports do this, but i do know about dfw. In the 15 or so years of using American Airlines’s hub to go anywhere it started out terrible and has only gotten worse. I am a seasoned advocate and have gotten precisely nowhere despite multiple attempts. Thank you for your excellent column.
