I also would like some info about wheelchair-accessible Greece. Ancient monuments are often by their nature not wheelchair-friendly -- up high, lots of steps, uneven paths. Also, Greek islands are often reached by sea by ferry, which doesn't sound easy. Your experiences and thoughts would be welcome as to whether it's feasible and rewarding to visit.
Hello John, I have chosen Greece for your next trip, especially if it’s in the warmer months when you can swim. If you enjoy swimming, there is nothing more pristine than the Aegean Sea. The Seatrac system can be found on numerous beaches which allows for easy accessibility into the ocean.
Who knows? Maybe I’ll fulfill a dream and join you.
Would love for you to visit Turkiye this summer, and Greece whilst it's still warm. Then I'd say Iceland when we're heading towards winter so you've longer night time viewing of the sky and Aurora ☺
I did afew trips in Turkiye around 8 years ago when I was using a scooter/could transfer to manual wheelchair and walk very short distances. Nowadays, it'd be more electric wheelchair or hired scooter there so I'm interested what you'd find and be able to do!
Love your travels and information. My spouse has been disabled and for the most part confined to a scooter since her early 40's. While some look at it as a life changing event that can't be overcome, we took the opposite path and decided we would adapt along the way. It has been interesting, but for those dealing with the disabled word, it's not the endgame. Adapt and research and you'll find ways to enjoy so many of the things you may think are impossible.
I'd love to get a follow from you on a ministry we are slowly building based on our experience and challenges we've faced along the way. Living in Colorado Springs Co, we are blessed with not only the beauty of Pikes Peak in our backyard, but all that goes with a city built on the beauty and activities that come with the Rocky Mountains. Renting mobility devices is a way to enjoy may of the enjoyments that come with travel and Colorado Springs has that in spades.
