Wheelchair Travel Newsletter Changes: Important Updates
Important updates and a timeline on major changes coming to the Wheelchair Travel Newsletter and website.
Hello, friends!
I have been hard at work preparing to combine this Wheelchair Travel Newsletter with the WheelchairTravel.org website, a long overdue integration that will improve your experience as a reader, and that will make accessible travel information, travel guides and resources easier to find.
Here is a timeline of the changes you can expect in the coming days:
On Wednesday, February 19, the look of WheelchairTravel.org will change to an improved, modern and more accessible design.
On Thursday, February 20, the Wheelchair Travel Newsletter will be integrated with the updated WheelchairTravel.org website — free and paid subscribers will be ported from Substack to a new home on the open source Ghost software platform, which is more suitable to hosting a large-scale and complex publication.
On Friday, February 21, all subscribers should expect to receive an email newsletter from the new system on that day — it will contain information on how to access the website, new features available to free and paid subscribers, and some exciting plans for the future. Regular newsletters will resume shortly thereafter, and I will also provide details on the new wheelchair accessible group trip itineraries scheduled for later this year.
Paid subscriptions, which provide critical financial support for my coverage of accessible travel, research and advocacy, will renew as normal, with no interruption in service. Premium, subscriber-only content will be available on WheelchairTravel.org beginning February 20, and the Wheelchair Travel Newsletter on the Substack platform will be deactivated.
While I am working hard to make this transition truly seamless, hiccups can occur and I am here to provide support for any issues related to your subscription via email at subscriber-support@wheelchairtravel.org.
Thank you for your patience as I work through this exciting transformation.
All the best,
John
